    Post by corndog71 Tue Apr 01, 2014 3:34 pm

    Here's my main rig.

Sources: Rega P25 w/ Shure V15VxMR, Rega Planet (Original), Apple iPad on a PURE i20 dock connected to a Musical Fidelity V-DAC Mk II. I sometimes also connect my laptop to the DAC for high rez files.

Preamps: Bottlehead Reduction w/ Integration upgrade and other mods, Bottlehead Quickie with PJCCS upgrade and various mods.

Amplifiers: VTA ST120 with mods, Custom version of ST35.

Speakers: AV123 X-Statik (Designed by Danny Richie of GR Research).

Cables: Homegrownaudio copper and silver braided interconnects (home-made), Kimber 4TC. Home-made and Kimber PowerKords.

(Ignore the white wires on the floor, that's been cleaned up since I took this pic.  Wink  )

Nice... right down to the dedicated iPad mini for a music server I take it?

Oh, Danny Boy, gotta love those speakers! I almost had a nervous breakdown building/fitting the xovers in the base of the cabinets. Well worth the mental anguish.

Yeah, sort of. For most of my digital music the ipad does the trick but if I want to hear my HD Tracks recordings then I have to plug my laptop into the V-DAC. Plus the ipad is only 16G as opposed to my digital music collection which is around 300G. One of these days I'm just going to get a dedicated computer server.

Mine were sans circuit boards. How did you get one?

    Kit:
    Ob5 Kit

In a 12"x 6" x 5" base and the resistors get  hot. Notice all the Erse caps and inductors. Danny does it right.

Are you saying you have the OB-5? I wish I had a pair of those as they have superior tweeters.

Yes, I have a pair in Baltic birch with curly maple veneer. The tweeters are planar with a disperser and are excellent. The overall sound is superlative.

New Speakers! (Ok, technically used but like new!)  AV123 Mini Strata.  Best speakers I've ever owned.

Also using the VTA SP13 as my new preamplifier. A big step over Bottlehead preamps.

Those little speakers in the corner came from a cheap shelf stereo someone left behind at my work. I grabbed them for testing my amps. They're nothing special.

I still have the ATS panels but was using them in my living room when I took this pic. I really need to buy another pair or more. They're not that expensive.
