PAS3 Power Supply rebuild questions Empty PAS3 Power Supply rebuild questions

    Post by j4570 Tue May 17, 2011 9:11 pm

No that I've finished the ST70, I'd like to try to fire up the PAS3 (it's not an 3X that I can tell). However, the old quad cap and other caps look like they need to go.

I believe it's got a 30-20-20-10 quad cap in there-appears original. I've got to read the PAS3 manual and schematic some more, but I didn't see what the value was supposed to be. Dynaco 12AX7's in the preamp too! I suspect the caps are bad.

What's the options, I've seen a few cap boards, but what do members here do?

Also, the selenium has to go of course.

    Pics would be great.

    Thanks,

    Jason

Hey Jason, I'll be watching this to help me on a pas refurb.

Did you up the quad cap capacitance when you did your 70?

    Hi:
Check out this power supply option for the PAS 3. I like the adjustable filament voltage and tunability of it.

    Steve,

Pics of my rebuild on my St70 are posted elsewhere on the forum. The original quad cap was toast. Matter of fact, I reused the chassis, the cage, and the output transformers. The power transformer I probably could have resued if I reinsulated the wires, but I upgraded it too.

I should have said I upgraded the quad cap with the CE one from Bob.
